The emergence on the worldwide operatic scene of an important Russian soprano these days is noteworthy in itself, but the appearance in recent years of Ljuba Kazarnovskaya on the stages of important opera houses, in song recitals and orchestral concerts was cause enough for the New York Times to hail this extraordinary artist as one of the 'Russian singers who scale new heights'.
Since her debut in 1992 at the Metropolitan Opera as Tatiana in Eugene Onegin, and during the next two seasons as Desdemona in the Metropolitan Opera's new production of Otello with Placido Domingo, and as Nadda in I Pagliacci with Luciano Pavorotti, nothing but glowing accolades and audience ovations have accompanied the rather spectacular rise of this brilliantly gifted Russian soprano.
